As I said the other day I haven't been able to hit the gym because I have had sore ribs. Turns out it's from a virus. I know WAH! :(
The worse part is whenever I get sick, I drown myself in comfort food, which means heavy processing. Now I know I shouldn't but because I feel horrible, I eat horrible and it becomes a viscous cycle.
So I have devised a plan to avoid having to eat the nasty food! I went outside with my duck and took him for a swim and then I played with him in my veggie garden. Surprisingly this helped because I wasn't stuck in a room feeling sorry for myself I was out in the sunshine surrounded by positive thoughts. As a result I cam back in had a cup of green tea and some berries! So every time I feel horrible now I am going to relax in the sunshine and make myself feel better.

The Benefits of Coconut Water
One thing that I always try to do religiously when I am starting to get active and eat clean again is drink coconut water.
With coconut water you either love the taste or you hate it.... Me? I have just learnt to tolerate it.
However I always come back to drinking it because it is so good for you and I can feel the benefits the more and more I drink it. I found a picture with a run down of a few of the benefits however I will touch on a few more.

1. Perfect Skin
The best benefit about coconut water for me was it cleared my skin. Within a couple of weeks of beginning to drink coconut water on a daily basis, I went from having blotchy skin with bits of acne and blemishes to clean and clear skin. My skin was tight and fresh looking all the time and people noticed.
2. Re Hydration
After a workout your body needs to re hydrate somehow and water is one of the best ways to do that. However, your body also needs essential electrolytes as well which coconut water contains. So the next time you go to the gym finish with a glass of coconut water to allow your body to recover better.
Try drinking a glass a day and see if you feel and see a difference!

Clean Eating
So, unfortunately because of an injury to my ribs, I can't actually start back at the gym :(
So what I have decided to do is focus on my eating and get back into the clean healthy habits I had before.
One of my favourite pictures that I always refer back to when trying to eat clean is a picture that Cassey Ho from blogilates posted about eating less crap and eat more food. What I will do is each which cut something from the crap column and add something from the food column. After the week I will see how I am feeling about the change. I know everything is in moderation, but I also want to make it through a month of 80% clean eating to assist myself with getting back on track! :)
So this week I am going to focus on cutting out carbonated and sugary drinks and plan to drink at least two liters of water each day as well as 2-3 cups of green tea.
I don't normally go out of my way to drink sugary drinks so this should be an easy first step for me!
Here I go!

HI!
My name is Kayla and I live on the Sunshine Coast of Australia! I decided to create this blog because of my struggles with getting fit and staying fit... I wonder if anyone could relate?! Haha.
Like many men and women I have been trying to get fit for quite a while. Now usually when I am aiming to get fit I do really well, I start eating healthy and I consistently go to the gym and I start to feel great. However, something always gets in the way or I get lazy!
I know what things work for me when I am trying to get fit and I know what doesn't so at least I am not starting from scratch with my next journey of fitness. However I am finding it harder to get motivated than I have the last couple of times. For some reason, I am lacking the motivation even though I am feeling worse and worse about myself. So that's why I created this blog so that I can talk about my struggles and put down in writing what is working and not working and what has me not wanting to go to the gym or eat that food that makes me feel awful afterwards.
So, a few times a week I will post my workouts for the week and what I ate and what worked and what didn't. I will talk about my motivation levels and what got me into the gym and how I felt afterwards!
I would love to here from people with their stories and journeys and how they stay motivated and any tips and tricks they may have.
Until next time!
